Audit Report and Written Recommendations

A principal product of an audit project is the final report in which significant observations are detailed and recommendations for improvement are described.  To facilitate communication and to ensure that recommendations presented in the final report are practical, we review and discuss the draft audit report during the Exit Conference, as previously described.

Our audit report typically consists of two documents; an Executive Summary and a separate attachment containing the detailed Audit Issues and Management Action Plans.  Any A-rated issues will be summarized and included in the Executive Summary.  The Executive Summary Report is distributed to key process owners and those with oversight authority who are able to ensure recommendations are implemented, as well as key senior leadership of JHU/JHHS and the respective external audit firm(s).  The more detailed attachment – Audit Issues and Management Action Plans – is usually only distributed to those directly impacted and responsible for implementing Management’s Action Plans.
