Zena-Maria graduated from Morgan State University in 2010, obtaining her B.S. in Accounting with honors. While at Morgan State she was a member of the Earl G. Graves Business School Honors Program and also served as President of the National Association of Black Accountants (NABA). After graduation she spent a couple years in public accounting, before moving into banking and finance, serving as the Staff Accountant at a local bank. Eventually she moved into the healthcare industry serving as an internal auditor for a regional health system before starting at OHIA in 2017.
